Why?

It was Melbourne’s lockdowns, I had just moved, and I was feeling isolated.I worked a lot and stayed home the rest. I don't drink and night life generally wasn't for me.
My free time was spent listening to podcasts and playing video games.
I got super lucky when I was invited to play a D&D game, once a week with a small group of friends.
We laughed. We told stories. We had something to look forward to.
It became the highlight of my week.
Years later I figured out the THREE
fundamental components that worked to connect people so well.
As the only full time Professional Game Master in Melbourne, with over 657 Five Star ⭐ratings for my Melbourne based game nights - I was given the opportunity to learn what makes our games so special.1) Time - regular availability
2) Opportunity - novelty/challenges
3) Alignment - shared interest
This is what made us so different to the rest. Our guided game nights could do what 100 other outings couldn't.Bars, Clubs, Language Exchanges, Boardgame nights in the back of Pubs, Walks, Runs - you name it. They often miss one or more of these crucial components.I created the Ludos Guild to share with people who enjoy high quality structured role-play game experiences, and bring the same opportunities for excitement and fellowship to others. If that sounds like something you'd like, you’re welcome to join us, we run intro sessions to D&D on saturdays. It'd the best way to start getting connected.— Jope (Organiser, Dungeon Master)

FAQ

Frequently Asked QuestionsWon't everyone else already know each other?
The only people who know each other are the Dungeon Masters leading each table. We don't allow groups to attend these nights, so at most there is a duo coming who already know each other. Everyone and you are super new to this.
Won't I slow other people down if I don't pick the game up as fast?
*This never happens :) Totally understand not wanting to lag behind the others, but everyone is learning just like you, and all the games are made with utter beginners in mind. I've never had this be a problem in 7 years.
Will I be the only girl at the event?
*No, our events are generally 3:1 ratio, most tables are 2 girls and 4 guys. no promises on any individual night, but you'll find it doesn't impact your enjoyment if that happens :)
I'm worried I might slow everyone else down?
Not true, pre-filled character sheets take much of the guess work out of learning the game, and the GMs have all taught tens to hundreds of people this game.
Here is most of it: The twenty sided dice "D20" we call it, is always used to resolve actions; whether it's picking a pocket, striking a goblin or recalling history on a forgotten ruin.
Ok, your basically ready now. Seriously.
Don't believe me? Come and find out for yourself.
I'm worried I might be too old/too young for this?
So here's what you'll want to know. we usually see attendees anywhere from 24-49 years of age.
normally it's 25-35 as we often curate our events for young 9-5 workers and established local professionals.
But I'll say this: if you get along with a mature audience of respectful people who can collaborate together - you're in for a good time.
What does a beginner session look like?
3-hour(ish) of a collaborative adventure game with you and 4-5 other new players.
You'll be run by an experienced Dungeon Master (host) who will provide everything you need. Typically including dice and a character sheet.
There are 2–3 tables each nigh at a venue for a total of 12-18 people.
